MTD ANNUAL 21 DAYS FAST (DAY 2)
TEXT: “…And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees” (1Kings 18:42)
- PRAYER: “Father, thank you because your Word has the power to transform. As I read today’s Morning Tea Devotional, let your Word penetrate my heart and mind, transforming my life into a better one, in Jesus name – Amen.”
As mentioned yesterday, one of the benefits of prayer and fasting is power for obedience and service. Pls know that prayer and fasting is primarily for our profiting. It is a covenant platform for fulfilling our glorious destiny in Christ.
Another benefit of prayer and fasting is the facilitation of prophecy fulfillment. The truth is that, certain oppositions to fulfilment of prophecies will only surrender through prayer and fasting.
In 1Kings 17:1, Elijah declares, “As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.” Although Elijah spoke as commanded by God, he didn’t stay idly for the prophecy to be fulfilled. Instead, he engaged in spiritual warfare for its fulfillment.
James 5:17-18 says: “Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain….” Elijah didn’t just speak; he prayed fervently for the prophecy to be fulfilled.
This is one reason for this spiritual exercise. We have received diverse prophecies for the year, it is time to enforce it on our prayer altars. We’re not fasting merely to abstain from food; we fast by standing in God’s Presence and praying these prophecies to fulfilment. (Luke 9:29).
PRAYER: Receive grace to maximize this prophetic season, in Jesus name!
TODAY’S PRAYER GUIDELINES:
- Father, confirm every prophetic word in my life and destiny this year, in Jesus name (Isaiah 44:26).
- Father, before this fasting season is over, turn issues in my life to open testimonies, in Jesus name (Matt 21:13)
- Father, empower me with sufficient grace for kingdom service to the point of rewards this year, in Jesus name (Luke 22:28-29)
- Present your requests to God (Phil 4:6).
