TEXT: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19)
Before we examine the purpose of Power in the above anchor scripture, I’ll like to say that one of the enemies of man today is RELIGION. Religion lacks the Power. Religion only has the form of godliness but denies the Power thereof (2Tim 3:5). Religion has blinded so many in today’s Church. They have settled down with it that it has become difficult for them to be led by the Spirit of God.
You will agree with me that the people Jesus struggled to connect with during His earthly ministry were not the ones deemed sinners, but rather the religious elite. This proves that Satan’s strategy is to trap people in religious formalism, thereby maintaining control over them. Paul’s dramatic conversion on the road to Damascus serves as a perfect illustration. Prior to that encounter, Paul was a zealous religious man, unwittingly serving Satan’s agenda. But after meeting Christ, he realized that true faith is not about external rituals or legalism, but about surrendering to Jesus and serving His interest.
Beloved, Christianity is not a religion, but Power and a Life-giving relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Jesus said: “…I came that you might have life, and have it more abundantly” (John 10:10b). Religion is weak and powerless. Christianity on the other hand, is a force that conquers darkness and transforms lives. The believers in Antioch were called ‘Christians’ because they demonstrated Power and boldness that was out of this world. They were not just religious people, they were carriers of the Power of God.
Now, if Christianity is of Power, one must find out from the pages of scriptures what that Power is meant for. Today’s anchor scripture reveals that one of the purposes of God’s Power is for us to dominate the forces of darkness. As a believer in Christ, you have been empowered by the Holy Spirit to triumph over sickness, disease, barrenness, failure, poverty, unemployment, stagnation, marital siege, and every other form of darkness. You must be conscious of this and exercise your authority over forces of darkness that want to rule over you! Today, you are empowered to overcome all forms of darkness, and to walk in victory, in Jesus name!
PROPHETIC PRAYER: Whatever you have lost to Satan, you shall recover them back before the end of the month, in Jesus name.
