TEXT: “And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son” (1Kings 17:13)

Let’s examine the story of Elijah and the widow of Zarephath, a powerful example of how to sustain the flow of God’s Power in our lives. When Elijah arrived at her home, the widow was preparing her final meal, having exhausted her resources. With only a scant amount of flour and oil remaining, she and her son faced death. But in this moment of despair, Elijah’s request for bread and water became a turning point, revealing God’s abundance in the midst of scarcity.

Just as the widow’s oil was on the brink of running out, many believers today are struggling to maintain their spiritual vitality. Their faith are dwindling, leaving them feeling drained, dry, and devoid of God’s Power. But Elijah’s instructions to the widow offer a powerful solution! By following his guidance, we can tap into God’s abundant supply and experience a continuous flow of His Spirit in our lives. As we are about to conclude the month, let’s delve into these instructions and discover how to replenish our spiritual oil, reignite our passion for God, and walk in the fullness of His power.

Elijah’s first instruction to the widow was to confront and overcome her fear and unbelief. He commanded her to fear not, which meant she had to shift her mindset and let go of the negative thoughts and beliefs that were holding her hostage. Similarly, many are held down with the spirit of fear today. The spirit of fear is a negative emotional state that manifests as anxiety, dread or apprehension. It is often rooted in a sense of uncertainty, insecurity or perceived threats. The spirit of fear can be a hindrance to faith, trust, and intimacy with God. Beloved, don’t let fear consume you! Remember that God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a sound mind (2Tim 1:7).

When God anointed you with His Spirit, He empowered you to overcome, not to be overwhelmed. So, rise up in faith and break free from the grip of fear and timidity. Seek God’s Presence. Run to Him in prayer, worship, and meditation. It is His Presence that casts out fear (1John 4:18). And don’t forget that spending time with positive, faith-filled people helps to overcome the spirit of fear (Prov 13:20). Today, you are free from the spirit of fear, in Jesus name.
