FOLLOWING THE EXAMPLE OF ABRAHAM – Pt 2

TEXT: “That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises” (Heb 6:12)

  • PRAYER: “Father, thank you because your Word has the power to transform. As I read today’s Morning Tea Devotional, let your Word penetrate my heart and mind, transforming my life into a better one, in Jesus name – Amen.”

To receive God’s blessings, follow the examples of those He has blessed. God treats everyone equally, so if you do what they did, He will bless you too. Abraham’s life is a great example to follow, as he experienced God’s blessings.

However, what did Abraham do, and how did he live his life before his laughter came? Yesterday, we examined that he was committed to following God’s instructions without hesitation.

What other lesson can we learn from his life?

The Lord said unto him: “Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house” (Gen 12:1).

This means Divine Separation.

Dear child of God, if you will enjoy laughter this month and always, there are people you must not associate with and places you must not be found. You must choose your friends wisely, as the people you surround yourself with will either change your life for good or for bad. Good friends bring blessings, while bad friends bring destruction because they influence your thoughts and actions. That is why the Bible says: “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you” (2Cor 6:17)

The Bible also says: “He that walketh with wise shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed” (Prov 13:20). Abraham’s decision to obey God and separate himself from his family is a wise decision that transformed him into a generational blessing.

Beloved, if you will be blessed by God like Abraham, evaluate the association you keep. The association that take you away from God or make mockery of God’s word is not worth keeping. If you will experience laughter like Abraham, you must mind who you call your friends. The company you keep determines what accompanies you.

PROPHETIC PRAYER: I see God separating you from wrong associations, in Jesus name.
