TEXT: “So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran” (Gen 12:4)
- PRAYER: “Father, thank you because your Word has the power to transform. As I read today’s Morning Tea Devotional, let your Word penetrate my heart and mind, transforming my life into a better one, in Jesus name – Amen.”
When God blesses a man, laughter follows. So, how do we provoke the blessing of God? Let’s use Abraham again as a case study. One of the ways to attract the blessing of God is to follow examples of those who God blessed. “That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises” (Heb 6:12). Abraham’s lifestyle is worth following because the blessing of God upon him is worth claiming.
Abraham was supposedly a failure at 75. He was living in his father’s house, had no child. A man who could be called a nonentity today; without a successful business or career breakthrough, and no future in sight. But this same man rose from being a nonentity to a celebrity. We can’t really discuss God’s blessings today without mentioning his name.
One outstanding character of Abraham is obedience to divine instructions. God told him to leave his father’s house and his people for an unknown destination, and he obeyed. He left in faith, looking for a city whose Builder and Maker is God (Heb 11:8-10). Beloved, obedience to divine instructions always leads to distinction.
What instruction has God given you? Are you still dragging your feet? Remember, delayed obedience is disobedience before God. Let your obedience to divine instructions be timely and laughter will be the end result (John 2:5).
