TEXT: “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord” (Heb 12:14)

OPENING PRAYER: “Father, I acknowledge that Your Word holds the power to transform lives. As I read today’s MTD, I ask that it transform my life and shape my destiny. By the Power in your Word, above only shall be my experience all through this month and onwards, in Jesus name – Amen.”

Today, I want to start by saying that if we want to live in peace with others, in addition to living in peace with God, we must develop an unquenchable love for the Word of God. Loving God’s Word is key to experiencing great peace in our lives, which in turn enables us to live in peace with others. This truth is validated by scripture, which says: ‘Great peace have they which love thy law: AND NOTHING SHALL OFFEND THEM’ (Psalms 119:165). Note the words ‘and nothing shall offend them.’

Take note of the following points:

  1. When we love and cherish the Word of God, we develop a deeper understanding of God’s character and His ways. What I mean is that there are scriptural principles for relating to people and resolving our differences, which demonstrate our godly character (Col 3:12-14). It is by embracing the Word of God that we develop this character (Psalm 119:11).
  2. When we love and cherish the Word of God, we acquire wisdom to navigate life’s challenges, including those that arise in our relationships with others. Whether we realize it or not, conflicts will inevitably emerge in our interactions with people. However, by studying the Word of God, we acquire the wisdom necessary to navigate these challenges with grace and understanding (2Tim 3:15).
  3. A heart that loves and cherishes God’s Word is characterized by forgiveness, compassion, and empathy. In contrast, a person who finds it hard to forgive or show compassion may not have a heart for God’s Word. Luke 8:15 says, a good heart hears, retains, and perseveres in God’s Word thereby bearing fruits like forgiveness, compassion, and empathy.

As we spend time in God’s Word, we become more like Christ, and our relationships with others reflect His love and peace. This enables us to communicate with people effectively and resolve conflicts biblically.
