TEXT: “And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting” (Mark 9:29)
MTD Weekend Review is on break today, as we gear up for a remarkable month of renewal and testimonies. July marks the anniversary of Morning Tea Devotional and the start of the second half of the year 2024. God assured me that He will turn issues of concern in our lives to testimonies, in this special month!
However, we must activate certain forces to see the manifestation of our testimonies. One of such forces is Prayer and Fasting, a potent force that unlocks divine breakthroughs and sets the stage for miraculous interventions. Prayer and fasting is a force through which certain kinds of afflictions in life give way for testimonies to manifest. Jesus said in Matt 17:21 “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” Remember, fasting is not to manipulate God to act, but to empower us to take control of life’s circumstances.
This is the reason behind the 14-day prayer and fasting program of the MTD, scheduled to take place from July 1st to 14th, 2024. As we approach the altar of prayer and fasting, it is important to recognize that the duration of our fast is not as crucial as the depth of our engagement. Merely abstaining from food is not enough; it is the quality of our spiritual pursuit that truly matters. Let’s strive to engage meaningfully, avoiding a mere religious exercise, and instead, seeking an encounter with God.
To engage effectively, we must first prepare ourselves through the study of God’s Word. As we approach the throne of grace, we enter the heavenly courtroom where we present our case to God through prayer. Isaiah 41:21 says: “Produce your cause, saith the Lord; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.” The more compelling our reasons, the greater our confidence in receiving answers to our prayers.
What should we expect in this 14-day prayer and fasting?
- Expect to be empowered to dominate issues of life (Is 58:6).
- Expect to be empowered for fulfillment of prophecy (1Tim 1:18).
- Expect all round testimonies.
