TEXT: “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name” (Psalms 100:4)
One of the secrets to victory over challenges of life is thanksgiving. The reason is because, thanksgiving is the gateway to God’s Presence (Today’s anchor scripture) and God’s Presence guarantees victory all the time (Ps 97:5).
What is thanksgiving? It is recounting the past acts of God in our life. There is need for us to look back and bless the Lord for the blessings and victories we enjoyed this year 2023 so as to secure more in 2024 (Ps 103:1-8). To cultivate the art of thanksgiving, like Psalmist in Psalms 103, first focus on spiritual things and not material things. Count your spiritual blessings like healing, forgiveness, protection, preservation, etc. One of the reasons man fails in gratitude is because man’s focus is only on material things.
Thanksgiving is also provoked when you make a comparison between where you are now and where you used to be. You might not be where you want to be yet but, you are definitely not where you used to be. You might not have what you desire yet but, God has not given you what you deserve. The Bible says in Psalms 130:3 that “If the LORD should mark iniquity, who will stand?” So, God has been good to you.
God’s goodness is not subject to anything that happened externally. If you are promoted or not, He is good. I want to admonish you to spend the remaining days of this year to give quality thanks to God for all the blessings and victories in 2023 and you will secure His Hand for 2024.
PRAYER: Victory is yours this season and always, in Jesus name.
