ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: “Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul. But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.” (Acts 27:11 & 14).
- PERSONAL PRAYER: “Father, thank you for the power in Your Word that transforms. May the Morning Tea Devotional today transform my life and destiny, in Jesus name – Amen.”
The Bible provides valuable lessons on how to overcome life’s challenges. By dedicating time to studying the Word, we can gain insights into how to handle difficult situations. A notable example is found in today’s anchor scripture, where Apostle Paul faced a horrible experience while being transported to Rome as a prisoner.
Despite warning the guards of the danger of sailing, they disregarded his warning and sailed, and this led to a severe storm. This story captures the importance of understanding the reasons behind storms in our life and how to overcome them.
The Holy Spirit taught me from this story that, we must ask ourselves three crucial questions if we will overcome challenges in life. These questions are: What caused this to happen? What does God want me to learn from this experience? And how does God want me to respond in this situation?
Let’s examine the first question: What caused this to happen? There are four possible causes of storms in our lives. Firstly, our own actions can lead us to problems. For instance, problems that occurred as a result of poor decisions or choices we made. This is called self-inflicted problems. Secondly, human actions can cause storms, as seen in the story of Apostle Paul, where the guards’ decisions and insensitivity led to the storm.
Thirdly, spiritual attacks can lead to challenges and difficulties in our journey in life. Lastly, God may allow storms in our lives due to disobedience to His instructions. Understanding the cause of our storms is crucial in finding a way out.
When facing a storm beloved, it’s essential to pray and seek God’s face. Ask Him why He is allowing this situation in your life. David’s experience in Psalm 73 is a good example. He struggled to understand why the wicked seemed to prosper more than the righteous, but when he went into the sanctuary to ask God, he understood their end.
Regular fellowship with God can also provide the insights we need to overcome life’s challenges. Attending Church services and maintaining personal time with God can bring clarity and guidance. Beloved, always prioritize your relationship with God, it will help you to overcome life’s storms and find peace in His Presence.
