TEXT: “For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding” (Ps 47:7)

In the kingdom of God, understanding is the secret behind anything outstanding. Understanding what praise is will help us to give it to God heartily, tirelessly, joyfully and alwaysly. Psalmist in today’s anchor scripture says: “For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.”

Today, let’s understand what praise is.

1: Praise is appreciating God for who He is. Appreciating God for who He is irrespective of what He has done or not done is the praise that commands the supernatural. You can’t appreciate God for who He is and depreciate in life. If you don’t want to sink, sing praises with the understanding that God is your Father and not because He does something for you. You can’t remain down lifting God with praise. The way up in that situation you’re in at the moment is to lift your hands up in appreciation to God and He will raise you above it.

2: Praise is appreciating God for His promises. The fastest way to see prophecies fulfilled in your life is to praise God for them in advance. When you are singing to God, what do you project? Are you singing because you just feel like it? Praise is a weapon of war and every prophecy must be warred with to fulfilment. Apostle Paul said: “This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare” (1Tim 1:18). One of the ways to war with prophecies is by praising God in advance.
