21-DAY PRAYER & FASTING (DAY 16)
(Check the prayer guidelines below)
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE
“And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beer-sheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there” (1Kings 19:3)
PERSONAL PRAYER:
“Father, thank you for your Word to me today. Let it transform my life, in Jesus name – Amen.“
There is an important lesson I want us to learn today as we look at the secrets of answered prayer. As I studied the chapter of the above anchor scripture, the words “he left his servant there” stood out, and that is what I want to share with us today. When Elijah arrived at Beer-sheba, he left his servant there and after a day’s journey alone, he encountered God.
Beloved, there are times when certain things in our lives stand in the way of our answers to prayers. Until those things are dealt with, answers may delay. Hebrews 12:1 tells us to lay aside every weight and run our race with patience. You cannot carry unnecessary weight and still expect God to step fully into your situation. When you let it go, you give God room to work.
Someone reading this today may need to hear this: the delay you are experiencing may be because there is something God is asking you to let go. It could be an ungodly relationship, unforgiveness, bitterness, a sinful habit, or even wrong associations. These things quietly hinder the move of God in our lives. Sometimes, the people we keep close or the habits we tolerate are the very things holding us back.
Beloved, you need to let go to let God.
Elijah left his servant behind, and then the needed answers came. We see other examples of this in Scripture. For instance, Abraham left his servants behind before going to the place of sacrifice (Gen 22:5). Jacob was left alone, and that was when the angel appeared (Gen 32:24–28). Don’t allow any friendship, relationship, attitude, or habit to keep you from what God wants to do in your life this year. Leave them behind, and God will surely show up in your life.
