TEXT: “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3)
You may be going through a season of life where you feel stuck, you do not know where you are going or what you are doing with your life. Maybe you are just living through the routine day in and day out. That’s the story of Nicodemus in today’s anchor scripture when he came to see Jesus by night. If you are feeling down, in darkness and stuck in routine, you need to spend time with God, the light.
However, to access God who is the Light, take note of this step:
- SALVATION
The first step to accessing the light of God is to be born again. Jesus said unto them: “…Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables” (Mark 4:11). Those that are without that Jesus talked about are the unsaved ones. Those that are not saved cannot see. It takes light to see. If you are not saved you are in darkness. If you are in darkness, you can’t see and it’s because you don’t have access to light that can make you to see.
Unto the saved alone are given to know by light the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. Jesus, speaking to Nicodemus in today’s anchor scripture said: “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Which means, except a man be born again he cannot access light that will help him to see. Except a man is saved, he cannot see. He can only hear, but cannot see; and you remember God told Abraham that as far as your eyes can see, it shall be given to you (Gen. 13:14-15). Our destinies is limited to what we see. What we see is what defines the limits of our destiny; and except a man is born again, he cannot see.
So, the number one step to accessing the light that will put you above darkness is salvation. You must be truly saved to gain access to light from heaven. By salvation I mean accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour; not just being a Church member or being very active in Church, you must have had encounter with Jesus.
Perhaps, you are yet to encounter Jesus as you read this message this morning, an opportunity is here again to surrender your life to Jesus so as to gain access to light that will put you in command over the forces of darkness.
If you are ready, say this prayer and mean it from your heart:
“Lord Jesus, today I repent of my sins and surrender my life to you. Wash me clean. I believe that you’re the Son of God. That you died on the cross for my sins and rose again on the third day for my victory, I believe that in my heart and make confession with my mouth today, that you’re my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for saving me. Now I am born again.”
