TEXT: “But they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise” (2Cor 10:12b)

We give glory to God for the miracle of sleeping and waking up. We awoke this morning because the Lord sustained us (Ps 3:5). We are grateful to Him.

I cannot overemphasize this that praise is a weapon in the hand of a believer to overcome any situation. When you make praise your lifestyle, God’s blessing becomes a reality in your life. Men and women that are addicted to praise don’t beg God for His blessing. They are naturally attracted to it.

However, there are hindrances to genuine praise that we must avoid at all cost if we will experience wonders of praise. We have examined OFFENSE as one of these hindrances (Refer to MTD Friday 19th 2024 for better understanding).

What else?

  1. COMPARISON
Another hindrance to genuine praise is comparing yourself with others. It is dangerous to do so. Read David’s account on this in Psalms 73:12-17. The truth is that, there is no ungodly man that should be envied by a child of God no matter how “successful” the ungodly man is. Even among believers, don’t ever envy another man’s blessing, your destinies are not the same! “For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise” (2Cor 10:12).

Below are some of the reasons why comparing yourself with others is bad:

  • Comparing yourself with others will make you disregard the blessing of God in your own life. The Bible says: “Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up” (Ps 28:5). That will not be your portion in Jesus name. You are uniquely made by God. There is no two you in the whole universe. Desiring to be like someone else is a sign of ingratitude and this could ruin your life and destiny. You will not be a victim, in Jesus name. How I wish I am like Mr A or B is like telling God He is not good to me. God is good all the time.
  • Comparing yourself with others will make you get offended, both in God and in man as mentioned on Friday. Cain wouldn’t have ended the way he did if he had not become envious of his brother Abel. Cain was trapped by envy and his destiny went for it. Don’t ever compare your life with anybody else’s. It will stop you from praising God genuinely and until your praise to God is genuine, it doesn’t guarantee a returned blessing.

Pls take note of the above key points.
