TEXT: “For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come” (1Tim 4:8)
OPENING PRAYER: “Father, I recognize the transformative power of your Word. As I read today’s Morning Tea Devotional, I ask that your Word penetrate my heart and mind, transforming my life and shaping my destiny, in Jesus name – Amen.”
There’s no regret whatsoever living for God. It profits us in countless ways, both in this world and in the world to come. In today’s anchor scripture, apostle Paul says: “Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise (godliness) is much more important, for it promises a reward in both this life and the next” (1Tim 4:8 NLT).
Despite the numerous advantages of godliness, many Christians overlook the tangible benefits of it. While godliness undoubtedly fosters our spiritual growth and intimacy with God, it also has practical, physical benefits. We started examining these scriptural provisions yesterday (Pls refer to yesterday’s MTD).
What other gain/benefit/profit?
- Access to revelation. One of the major gains of godliness is access to revelation. A godly person will always access insightful solutions to life’s challenging issues by the the help of the Holy Spirit. This is a kingdom mystery that is only accessible by godliness. “And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables” (Mark 4:11). This means, godliness gives us access to the secret things of God. “The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant” (Ps 25:14). Only the godly can access the secret things of God.
Many of the things we suffer for in life is as a result of our ignorance of what to do. God said: “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). Not lack of prayer because we have many people today who pray in ignorance. When you lack knowledge of what to do to be free from your predicament, you remain in it. But what guarantees our access to this knowledge is godliness. When you are full of God, what answers to God answers to you too. Hallelujah!
Revelation is the bedrock of undeniable profits, and the godly is guaranteed access to this. Revelation from God will at all times, breeds turn-around for the godly any day, anytime. Godliness is profitable. It pays off in this life and in the life to come.
ACTION STEP:
Be determined to live for God the remaining days of your life. You will find that as you do, your profiting will begin to appear to all.
