DAY 8 (MTD ANNUAL 21 DAYS FAST)
TEXT: “And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight” (1John 3:22)
- PRAYER: “Father, thank you because your Word has the power to transform. As I read today’s Morning Tea Devotional, let your Word penetrate my heart and mind, transforming my life into a better one, in Jesus name – Amen.”
Before exploring the benefits of prayer and fasting further, let’s discuss what makes it effective. Effective prayer and fasting can transform your life. However, certain conditions must be in place. Let’s examine one of these conditions today.
RIGHT RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.
We must have a right relationship with God for effective prayer and fasting. This connotes:
- Being Born Again, which also means salvation (John 3:3). Salvation is the foundation of having a right relationship with God. You cannot have a cordial relationship with God without genuine salvation. Salvation involves recognizing one’s sinfulness, repenting, and accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. This experience brings about a new life in Christ. This new life is essential for effective prayer and fasting. If you have not given your life to Christ, this is your opportunity. Contact us today.
- Living a life of obedience to God’s Word (John 14:15). Obedience to God and His Word demonstrates your love and commitment to Him, and it’s a key factor that makes prayer and fasting effective.
- Maintaining a Consistent Prayer Life. Jesus said men ought always to pray and not to faint (Luke 18:1). Prayer is the primary means of communication with God, and this is one way to build and strengthen our relationship with Him.
Focusing on these key areas, will lead to effective prayer and fasting, and a deeper connection with God.
PROPHETIC PRAYER: This prayer and fasting season will mark a turning point in your spiritual life, in Jesus name.

TODAY’S PRAYER GUIDELINES:
- Father, every challenged MTDian shall be supernaturally visited for their change of story this week, in Jesus name (Gen 21:1).
- Father, let everyone connected, related or associated with MTD, that is challenged healthwise, be healed now, in Jesus name (Psalm 107:20).
- Father, this year, move every MTDian forward in life, in career, and in business, in Jesus name (Prov 4:18)
- Now, present your requests to God (Phil 4:6).
DAILY DECLARATION: “This year, 2025, I step into my New Era of Dominion by the Wisdom of God and I commit to serving God faithfully by the help of the Holy Spirit. As a result, my Rewards shall manifest quickly. Amen and amen.”
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: “If our prayer and fasting will be effective, we must have a right relationship with God.”
