TEXT: “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy” (Matt 5:7)
- PRAYER: “Father, thank you because your Word has the power to transform. As I read today’s Morning Tea Devotional, let your Word penetrate my heart and mind, transforming my life and shaping my destiny, in Jesus name – Amen.”
Greetings in Jesus name. Today is MTD Covenant Day of Mercy. The mercy of God will locate you this week, in Jesus name.
One of the keys to experiencing laughter (mercy) this month, as revealed in the above anchor scripture, is showing mercy to others through prayer. This is what prompted this month’s MTD Global Intercession.
Beloved, to see the manifestation of your long-awaited laughter, don’t let all your prayers be about ‘I, me, mine, myself.’ Such prayers come from a heart that is spiritually selfish. Instead, focus on praying for others, and watch God’s mercy and laughter overflow in your life.
Note that the primary purpose of prayer is not to change things in our lives, but to change us. One thing that needs to change within us is our selfish nature, and praying for others will accomplish just that. There are people who will never see the need to pray for others’ needs because they are consumed by their own. This is spiritual insensitivity.
Today’s anchor scripture says, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.”
Intercession is a channel by which we show mercy to people. Also, praying for others slowly destroys the seed of self-centeredness that keeps us from being like Jesus.
Understand that behind every earthly conflict in someone’s life is a spiritual battle, with the devil seeking to harm. God is inviting each of us to partner with those in such situations for their victory.
Prayer of intercession is to long for what is best for someone else before God.
This is one way to move God to manifesting our desires. That was the key to Job’s laughter dimension of turnaround. Go and do likewise.

Stand in gap for someone in prayer today.
