TEXT: “Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing” (Psalm 100:2)
- PRAYER: “Father, thank you for the transformative power of Your Word. Let your Word via today’s Morning Tea Devotional transform my life and destiny, in Jesus name. Amen.”
Serving God and the interests of His kingdom yields unmatchable returns. No institution, organization, or government can offer what serving God provides. It remains the most profitable endeavor in life.
However, not all services to God guarantee profitable returns. Certain conditions must be met for any service to be acceptable before God. Apostle Paul said: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service” (Rom 12:1).
For your service to be acceptable:
- Serve God joyfully, not with grudges. How we serve God matters to Him. God always loves a cheerful giver as stated in 2Corinthians 9:7, “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give (offer his service to God); not grudgingly,…for God loveth a cheerful giver” (Emphasis mine).
No joy, no harvest. Joy is essential for a fruitful investment in God’s Kingdom. Joel 1:12 says: “The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth;…even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men” (Joel 1:12).
In Malachi 3:14, the Bible says: “Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the Lord of hosts?”
Dearly beloved, you can’t serve God mournfully or angrily and expect profits for your service. A mournful service is a rewardless service. Serving in depression does not bring pleasure to God and therefore cannot attract rewards from Him.
Determine today never to serve God in anger or depression. Always serve God with joyfulness of heart. If your service to God would not be done joyfully, then don’t serve at all.
See your service as a privilege, not a burden, so you can serve God joyfully. Remember, God has more than a million others who can replace you if you don’t serve with joy.
PROPHETIC PRAYER: Grace to serve God joyfully is yours today and always, in Jesus name.
