THE PURPOSE OF WILDERNESS

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:
“And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no” (Deut 8:2)

PERSONAL PRAYER:
“Father, open my eyes to see what you are saying to me today and give me the grace to be doer of your Word, in Jesus name – Amen.

Let me start by letting you know that going through wilderness in life is not punishment but preparation. Many people misunderstand wilderness season because it is uncomfortable, uncertain, and often slow. But God in His wisdom does not waste processes; He uses them to prepare us for our progress.

When God brought the children of Israel out of Egypt, He did not take them straight into the Promised Land. Instead, He led them through the wilderness. Not because He couldn’t take them there immediately, but because they were not yet ready for what He had prepared.

Wilderness is a place of training where we learn dependency on God, obedience to His instructions, and discipline in our walk with Him. It is where our minds are trained for responsibility. The Bible makes it clear in today’s anchor scripture that God led them through the wilderness to test them. The process was to reveal and refine them at the same time.

Many times, we want progress without process, but God is more interested in who you are becoming than where you are going. If He gives you progress without the process, you may not be able to sustain it. This is why those who embrace the process are the ones who eventually step into the Promised Land like Joshua and Caleb.

The purpose of the wilderness you’re going through is to teach you total reliance on God, patience, and faith, don’t despise it. God is not delaying you, He is developing you.

PROPHETIC PRAYER:
Receive grace to go through the process for your progress, in Jesus name.
