THANK GOD WITH YOUR SUBSTANCE

Friday, 19th December 2025

By Pst Israel Olorunfemi

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:
“Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase” (Prov 3:9)

OBJECTIVE:
“To help MTDians understand that true gratitude to God is demonstrated by actions.”

PERSONAL PRAYER:
“Father, thank you for your Word to me today via Morning Tea Devotional, in Jesus name.”

One powerful way to thank God is through thankful giving. Thanksgiving is not just what we say; it is also what we give. That is why it is called thanks-giving, not thanks-saying. When we invest our substance in God’s work, we are practically saying ‘Lord, thank you for all you have done for me.’

While words and songs are good, the Bible teaches that thanksgiving should go beyond verbal expression. Our actions must back up our words, because what we do confirms what we say. As a Global Devotional Family in this season of thanksgiving, let us think of practical ways to show God our gratitude.

Thanking God with our substance shows that we recognize Him as the source and owner of all we have, and that we see ourselves as stewards, not the owners. Beloved, don’t thank God with your lips while holding back your possessions from Him.

Remember Pharaoh’s instruction to Moses, to serve God but leave their animals behind (Exo 10:24-26). Like Moses, refuse to serve God or thank Him empty-handed. Don’t allow the devil keep your substance while you thank Him with words alone. Bring all you have before God in thanksgiving and let Him decide what He wants and how He wants it.

PROPHETIC PRAYER:
As you thank God with your substance this season, you will never experience downtime in life, in Jesus name.
