TEXT: “Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear” (Heb 12:28)

OPENING PRAYER: “Father, I recognize the transformative power of your Word. As I read today’s Morning Tea Devotional, I ask that your Word penetrate my heart and mind, transforming my life and shaping my destiny, in Jesus name – Amen.”

There are benefits we enjoy via our service to God. Beloved, it pays to serve God. In fact, it pays the best. Serving God and the interest of His kingdom provides unmatchable returns. No institution, organization, or government can offer what serving God provides. It remains the most profitable endeavour in life.

God cannot owe anyone who serves Him faithfully. He is not a user of people, but a raiser of those who serve Him. Hebrews 11:6 says: “…He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” May you be found faithful, in Jesus name.

However, not all service rendered to God guarantees profitable returns. Certain conditions must be met for our service to be acceptable to Him. Apostle Paul said: “I beseech thee therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” (Rom 12:1). This means, there is a “reasonable service” that is pleasing to God and guarantees rewards.

Your service to God must possess certain qualities. Let’s examine one today.

  1. JOY. Until your service to God is done joyfully, it will not attract any benefit from Him. How we serve God matters to Him. Today’s anchor scripture says: “Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.” Don’t serve God in depression and don’t be forced to serve Him either, because whatever is not done joyfully will not attract the blessing of God.

When our service to God is acceptable to Him, we gain freedom from afflictions. Anyone that serves God genuinely is naturally free from the affliction of the devil, be it sicknesse, disease, pains, suffering, disappointment, etc. For example, Moses was in active Kingdom service to God and the Bible records that: “Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated” (Deut 34:7).
