TEXT: “Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not” (James 4:2)
Today is the first MTD Hour of Mercy for the month of May 2024. MTD Hour of Mercy is set up as instructed by God for us to present any issue of concern in our lives to Him in prayer. It has been from one glory to another. My prayer for you today is that any issue of concern to you shall return as testimony with you today, in Jesus name.
There are steps that must not be ignored if God will answer your prayers in this month’s Hour of Mercy. If God will decorate you with His favour by granting you all that you desire, then you must not neglect today’s biblical instruction. Obedience to biblical instructions is the highway to distinction in life and destiny.
What is the biblical instruction that we must obey today? The instruction is:
- ASK WHAT YOU DESIRE
If your desires will turn to manifestation this month, the Holy Ghost is saying to you to ask. If you will see God in action in every area of life this month, then you must be ready to pray. You must be ready to ask and keep asking until you see the manifestation of what you are asking. Don’t assume that God knows your needs this month. A lot of people today assume that and they refused to ask. Today’s anchor scripture says: “You have not because you ask not.” What do you want from God? In the MTD Hour of Mercy today, ask Him and be specific about it.

Dr. Paul Cho said many years ago when South Korea was poor, he asked God for a bicycle. Back then a bicycle was a big blessing. Several months had passed, he had not received the bicycle. He then asked the Lord why it was taking so long for Him to answer this prayer. The Lord said, “Son, you didn’t tell Me what kind of bicycle you want. There are different brands, different colours, and different manufacturers. Be specific. What kind of bicycle do you want?”
Don’t generalise your prayer, be specific. You need money, tell Him the amount. You need breakthrough in any area, be specific in your request. Jesus asked the blind man in Mark 10:42-52, “What do you want me to do for you?” God is asking you and me the same question today. It was obvious that the man wanted his sight. But Jesus never assumed to know his desire. God will not assume that He knows your needs. Though He knows, He is still waiting for you to ask Him. Tell Him exactly what you want. He’s able, willing and ready to answer you (Matt 7:7-8).
ACTION STEP:
Go to God in prayer at the Hour of Mercy (12pm-1pm) and ask Him specific things you want Him to do for you this month. Once you are done asking, appreciate Him genuinely from your heart for prayer answered!
PRAYER: As you lay your desires are on the altar of prayer today, you shall pick them up as testimonies this week, in Jesus name.
