TEXT: Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him…” (Gen 12:1,4)
Repeat after me: “Father, I acknowledge that Your Word holds the power to transform lives. As I read Your Word today, I ask that it transform my life and shape my destiny. By the Power in your Word, above only shall be my experience all through this month and onwards, in Jesus name. Amen.”
Since obedience is a major requirement for walking with God and being above only, it’s essential that we understand what obedience truly means.
Firstly, obedience involves hearing God’s Word and acting on it. It means aligning our will with God’s will, doing what He asks us to do. Obedience occurs when we completely surrender to His authority and base our decisions and actions on His instructions. Only then can we be said to be obedient to Him. Obedience to God is crucial because it demonstrates our trust in Him. Therefore, our obedience to God is a clear demonstration of our trust in Him.
Obedience can also mean following God’s leading even when we are uncertain about the outcome. This is exactly what Abraham did. The Bible says: “By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went” (Heb 11:8).
Dear child of God, obedience can be challenging; often it requires taking the higher road when an easier path is available. Obedience may demand sacrifice, discipline, and stretching ourselves beyond our comfort zone. It means choosing to trust and follow God’s way, even when it’s difficult or uncomfortable.
Beloved, are there things in your life that God is asking you to do that are difficult or don’t make sense? Your obedience will demonstrate to God that you trust Him. It will serve as evidence of your faith.
ACTION STEP:
Obey God by giving even when your budget is tight. Obey God by forgiving even when it hurts so badly. Obey God by working hard even when you have been passed over for promotion. Obey God by loving your spouse unconditionally. There is a reason why God has placed you in that situation. Remember that obedience is better than sacrifice.
PRAYER: Sufficient grace to obey God continuously is yours from today, in Jesus name.
