TEXT: “…and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time” (1Pet 5:5-6)
OPENING PRAYER: “Father, thank you because your Word has the power to transform. As I read today’s Morning Tea Devotional, let your Word penetrate my heart and mind, transforming my life and shaping my destiny, in Jesus name – Amen.”
This month, divine lifting is God’s agenda for the MTD Family. We’ve explored essential factors ensuring its fulfillment. Now, let’s address a crucial hindrance called pride. Our anchor scripture emphasizes that pride is one of the primary enemies of divine lifting.
What is pride? Pride is the consciousness of one’s accomplishments, achieved through personal effort. Pride is when you boast about your achievements, attributing your success solely to your own efforts. With pride, you cannot be promoted by God because God will always resist the proud.
If your challenges in life come from human or demonic opposition, there’s hope for you. However, if God Himself resists you due to pride, your situation is dire. No amount of prayer, not even from a Pastor or Prophet, can rescue you from this predicament.
Proud people cannot receive divine lifting. When pride takes over a person, their downfall is imminent. Consider King Nebuchadnezzar, who said, ‘Is this not Babylon, built by my own power? What happened next? He was reduced to eating grass like an animal for seven years.
When Herod received the praises of the people who chanted, “This is the voice of a god, not the voice of man”, worms ate him up where he sat. No matter how great you are or will eventually become, don’t let it get into your head.
Humility alone will take you to heights that others cannot reach through effort. It’s better to be humble and be lifted than to be brought down for not being.
PRAYER: Grace to be humble no matter what you achieve is yours today, in Jesus name.
