TEXT: “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving” (Col 4:2)
Thanksgiving is one of the secrets we all must engage to enjoy speedy answers to prayers. It is obviously one of the vital secrets of the kingdom because it is a vital requirement for answered prayers. The Bible says: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God” (Phil 4:6). The meaning is that, until we give thanks, requirements for answered prayer is not complete.
When we give thanks for what God has done, we are simply reminding Him of what remains. We saw thanksgiving as Jesus’ lifestyle. A number of striking miracles in His ministry was triggered by thanksgiving. For instance, in the miracle of feeding five thousand men, we saw how Jesus lifted up the five loaves and two fishes in thanksgiving and we saw how the bread multiplied supernaturally, feeding an estimated number of ten thousand men,women and children, with twelve basket-full fragment as leftover (John 6:6-11).
Also, we saw how Jesus at the tomb of Lazarus, lifted up His eyes unto heaven and gave thanks, saying, “Father, I thank you for you have heard me. And I know that you hear me always” (Jn 11:41-42). By giving thanks to God for the answered prayers of the past, He simply reminded the Father of the answer of the present situation. Beloved, If you will enjoy answers to your prayers, you must consciously give God thanks for every stage of your life, thereby reminding Him of what remains. This is why Apostle Paul admonished us to give thanks in every thing or at every stage (1Thes 5:18).
Don’t ask God anything today, just give Him thanks from the depth of your heart.
PRAYER: You will not lose your answers to ingratitude in Jesus name.
DAILY CONFESSION: This year 2023, I am finally on a Covenant Highway, Jesus is giving me Answers and I am enjoying Rest Round About – Amen and Amen!
