TEXT: “Then you will again see the difference between righteous people and wicked people, between the one who serves God and the one who doesn’t serve him” (Mal 3:18 – GWT).

OPENING PRAYER: “Father, I recognize the transformative power of your Word. As I read today’s Morning Tea Devotional, I ask that your Word penetrate my heart and mind, transforming my life and shaping my destiny, in Jesus name – Amen.”

I discovered from scripture that a decision to serve God with all our heart, soul and body holds a secret to all round blessing from God. Concerning the people of Judah, the Bible says:

“And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul; That whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. And they sware unto the Lord with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets. And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the Lord gave them rest round about” (2Chro 15:12-15). As a result of their covenant to serve God, there was no more war (2Chro 15:19).

Service to God is ordained for our benefit. Another word for ‘benefit’ is ‘profit.’ The Bible says: “In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury” (Pro 14:23). This verse means that no one ever loses by pursuing God and the interests of His Kingdom. When we wholeheartedly pursue God and the interests of His Kingdom, we are sure to enjoy undeniable benefits both now and eternally.

Many people today believe they are serving God, but seem not to be receiving any rewards for their service. However, the truth is that acceptable service unto God always attracts rewards from Him. As Hebrews 11:6 makes us to understand that God owes no one, but handsomely rewards those who qualify. If you’re serving God, your reward is certain.

However, not every service is acceptable to God; only acceptable service is rewarded. This is why we must pay close attention to what makes our service to God acceptable. Let’s examine another quality of an acceptable service to God.

  1. CONTINUITY: Hear me, what matters in your service to God is its continuity. No matter what you’re doing for the Kingdom of God today, if you fail to continue until the end, all your services and sacrifices will not be rewarded. But that won’t be your story, in Jesus’l name. God doesn’t focus on your past, but on your present. It’s your present commitment that determines what you’ll receive from Him. I pray for you, dear reader, that God will grant you the grace to continually serve Him with perfection all the days of your life.

Remember Lot’s wife and what happened to her when she lost focus on where she was going (Lk 17:32). Don’t lose focus in what you’re doing for the kingdom, keep doing what you know to do best, your rewards shall be full.

Acceptable service brings distinction. Do you want to be distinguished in life? Serve God wholeheartedly. You will be different among your peers. When you serve God joyfully, sacrificially and continually, your business, career, ministry, family, will stand out. King James Version of today’s anchor scripture says: “Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.”

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: “No one ever loses by pursuing God and the interests of His Kingdom.”
