ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: “That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises” (Heb 6:12)
- PERSONAL PRAYER: “Father, thank you for the power in Your Word that transforms. May the Morning Tea Devotional today transform my life and destiny, in Jesus name – Amen.”
I want to begin this morning by saying that storms are real in life, but what’s even more real is our victory over them. My focus from today will be on what we must do to gain victory over the storms of life.
Let’s take the life of Abraham in Romans 4:17-22 as a case study. Today’s anchor scripture says: “That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” Abraham didn’t have a child for many years. Did the storm consume him? No. How did he handle it? We can learn what to do when we’re in stormy situations by doing what he did. If he overcame his storm, you will overcome yours too, in Jesus name.
What did Abraham do?
- HE DIDN’T FOCUS ON THE STORM. When challenges arise, shift your focus from the challenges to the solutions. Remember Peter’s experience in Matt 14:28-30, where he began to sink when he looked at the storm instead of keeping his eyes on Jesus. Beloved, in the storms of life, focus on God, the solution provider and not the storm. Isaiah 26:3 says: “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
- HE MAINTAINED AN HEART OF GRATITUDE TO GOD. An important step to take when facing a storm is to be thankful. Focus on what is working in your life, and express gratitude to God. With this attitude, you will overcome storms faster than the complaining one. When you thank God for the things working around you, you’re building up your faith in God to solve the challenges at hand. Psalm 100:4 says: “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.”
- HE WAS PATIENT WITH GOD. “For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.” (Heb 10:36). You need to hold on to your faith and patiently wait for your answer. Don’t stagger with unbelief. Be fully persuaded that God will certainly calm the storm and give you victory, just as He said. Gal 6:9 says: “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
PROPHETIC PRAYER: Grace to hold fast to the end is yours today, in Jesus name.
