TEXT: “For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries” (1Cor 14:2)
OPENING PRAYER: “Father, thank you because your Word has the power to transform. As I read today’s Morning Tea Devotional, let your Word penetrate my heart and mind, transforming my life and shaping my destiny, in Jesus name – Amen.”
I welcome you to a week that we shall experience the workings of the Holy Spirit. On this MTD Covenant Day of Mercy, the Holy Spirit will empower you afresh and release what you need to turn your circumstances around this week, in Jesus name.
Today, God wants to share a secret with us: the power of praying in the Holy Spirit.
Praying in the language of the Holy Spirit, also known as praying in tongues, is incredibly beneficial for believers. Our Lord Jesus Christ said in Mark 16:17: “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues.” One of the marks of genuine Christian is the ability to pray in new tongues, as contained in Acts chapter 2.
Take note of these points:
- Praying in tongues is designed by God to be a supernatural language. It cannot be studied, it cannot be learned or written in any college or university because it is not a natural language. Whenever you pray in tongues, you are speaking to God without interference. The devil cannot understand you; neither can he interfere with or intercept your communication with your Father.
- When you pray in tongues, you pray according to God’s will. You desire to be in God’s will right? Pray in tongues often. The Bible says: “Likewise the Spirit also helps our weaknesses; for we know not what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered” (Rom 8:26). Every utterance prayed in the Holy Ghost works together for good to them that love God (Rom 8:27). If you don’t know how to pray for something or someone in certain circumstances, pray it in tongues. By that you are guaranteed by the word of God that you are indeed praying according to the will of God.
ACTION STEP FOR TODAY:
