TEXT: “I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry” (Psalm 40:1)
As we draw the curtain today, I will like to draw your attention to the fact that most of us hate the word patience. We want what we want and we want it now!
However, God has created us to live differently. In order to grow in the spirit, we must learn to be patient with God. We must be ready and willing to yield to His timing. We must not have our own agenda but allow God to guide our lives. Only then can we receive His best.
Before I mention the gains of patience, I want to quickly point out one important thing you need to do while waiting on God. The truth is that many people today hate waiting. They would rather want things to happen fast so that they can move on. But things don’t work that way. To avoid fear, anxiety and all manner of attacks from the enemy when waiting on God, it is important that you spend more time praying. That is not the time to be week in prayer. That is the time to ask God to strengthen you in your inner being to be able to wait upon Him patiently.
Let’s examine two gains of patience. When I say gains of patience, I mean profits or benefits of patience.
- IT PROTECTS YOU FROM FAKE BLESSING: Did you know that some blessings are fake? The devil is keen on making you live a defeated life. So he creates fake blessings so that you don’t get what God wants you to have. Hear me child of God, fake blessings may look good at first, and you may enjoy them but, they will leave you feeling depressed and fearful because the devil does not give out free things. Waiting upon the Lord will open your spiritual eyes to be able to differentiate God’s blessings from fake ones.
- IT PROTECTS YOU FROM UNSEEN DANGER: God knows the danger ahead of you. You don’t. Giving you what you want now may not fit into the bigger picture of your life. Sometimes, that can be a danger instead of a blessing.
Well, you have three choices when it comes to waiting on God.
Firstly, you can manipulate your situation to get what you want. However, this robs you of God’s best and could end in disaster.
Secondly, you can walk away from God when you allow your disappointment to turn you away from God.
Thirdly, you can wait and trust that God has your best interest at heart. Waiting on God requires faith, patience, and humility.
It’s hard not to develop impatience while waiting on God. We tend to fall for the lie that He is unaware of our struggles. But rushing ahead of God is never a good idea beloved. My prayer this morning is that God will engrace us all to wait on Him with joy and anticipation, trusting in His best for our lives, in Jesus name.
This is where we draw the curtain for the month of September 2023. Thank you for being part of the journey.
PRAYER: You will not miss God’s timing for your miracle, in Jesus name.
