ENEMY OF GRATITUDE – COMPARISON

Friday, 12th December 2025

By Pst Israel Olorunfemi

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:
“Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with what you have…” (Heb 13:5a)

OBJECTIVE:
“To show MTDians that comparison kills gratitude and blinds them to the blessings already present in their lives.”

PERSONAL PRAYER:
“Father, thank you for your Word today. Minister to me by your Word, in Jesus name – Amen.

Beloved, one of the quiet enemies of thanksgiving is comparison. It comes softly, but its effect is strong. When we look at the lives of others and begin to measure our progress by their achievements, something dangerous happens inside us. We start feeling unhappy, ungrateful, and dissatisfied. Instead of seeing what God has already done for us, our eyes shift to what we think we don’t have.

But God created each of us with a unique journey. Your life has its own timeline. Your blessings have their own season. What God is doing in someone else’s life is not a sign that He has forgotten you, rather, it is a reminder that He is still in your neighborhood, working miracles.

Contentment is a powerful weapon against comparison. It doesn’t mean settling for less; it means appreciating what God has already provided while trusting Him for more in His time. A content heart is a thankful heart. When you focus on your own blessings, your health, your family, your daily provision, your opportunities, you begin to see that God has been good to you in many ways.

Beloved, today, shift your focus. Instead of looking at what others have, take a moment to count what God has done for you. Think about where He brought you from, where you are now, and what He is still preparing for you. When you stop comparing and start appreciating, thanksgiving will naturally flow from your heart.

PROPHETIC PRAYER:
I pray that your eyes be open to your blessings and may your heart be filled with gratitude, in Jesus name.
