TEXT: “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits” (Psalm 103:2)
- PRAYER: “Father, thank you because your Word has the power to transform. As I read today’s Morning Tea Devotional, let your Word penetrate my heart and mind, transforming my life into a better one, in Jesus name – Amen.”
There are numerous blessings to thank God for. However, for the purpose of focus, we will examine one blessing today.
Before we examine this blessing, be reminded that ingratitude is a sin. The Bible says, it is a good thing to give thanks to God (Psalm 92:1). And James 4:17 says, to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
There are things in our lives that sometimes we don’t consider worthy of thanksgiving.
For instance:
- THE GIFT OF LIFE. Hannah said: “The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up” (1Sam 2:6). Many people have lost their lives due to road accidents, illnesses, and other tragedies. But God has kept you alive. He has healed you, delivered you from danger, and kept you safe. This is why you are still alive.
You are not better than those who have been killed by armed robbers, kidnappers, bandits, terrorists, or other criminals. You are not better than those who died due to tragic events. Beloved, you need to thank God for keeping you alive. Psalm 150:6 says, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” As long as you’re still breathing, you owe God thanks.
Lamentations 3:22 says: “It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.” God’s mercy has kept you alive. Arise now and thank Him for keeping you alive.
