ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: “When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid” (1Sam 17:11)
- PERSONAL PRAYER: “Father, thank you for the power in Your Word that transforms. May the Morning Tea Devotional today transform my life and destiny, in Jesus name – Amen.”
Have you ever wondered why God sometimes seems distant or not responding to your prayers? The answer lies in the way you think and feel. Your thoughts and emotions can either attract or repel God’s Presence in your life.
In today’s anchor scripture, we see how fear held the army of Israel back from experiencing God’s intervention. Despite being God’s chosen people, they allowed fear to dominate their lives, and this stopped God from intervening for them.
Fear is a spirit that torment its victims. When you allow fear to control your life, it’s like building a wall that keeps God away from you. Fear is the opposite of faith, and it’s impossible to please God without faith (Heb 11:6).
What is fear? Fear is when you believe the lies of the devil more than the truth in God’s Word. Fear is at work when you focus on your problems instead of God’s promises. Fear is a spirit that can be cast out, but it requires deliberate effort and a willingness to demonstrate our confidence in God.
The Bible says: “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2Tim 1:7). This means that fear is not from God. When fear controls your life, it’s a sign that God is not present.
So, to experience God’s intervention, demonstrate your confidence in God. David, the young shepherd, defeated Goliath, a giant warrior because of his confidence in God. David’s confidence was not based on his own strength or abilities, but on God’s capacity to handle Goliath. David’s confidence in God was not shaken by Goliath’s threats. He knew that God was with him, and that was enough.
Do you want to overcome your problems and experience God’s intervention? Confidence in God is the key. It’s not about being confident in your own strength or abilities, but about being confident in God’s capacity to solve the problem.
The Bible say: “So do not throw away your confidence (in God); it will be richly rewarded” (Heb 10:35 NIV). Remember that it is confidence in God and not in self, money, or connections that guarantees victory.
