TEXT: “…for this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil” (1John 3:8b)

  • PRAYER: “Father, thank you because your Word has the power to transform. As I read today’s Morning Tea Devotional, let your Word penetrate my heart and mind, transforming my life into a better one, in Jesus name – Amen.”

Compliments of the season once again. Let’s further examine the blessings of the birth of Christ. Mylse Munnroe of blessed memory said: “When a purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable.” When you don’t know the reason for the season, abuse of it is inevitable. Many people see this season as a period to visit, drink and carry out all sorts of sinful acts. These can’t be reasons why Christ was born.

One thing a season like this should mean to all of us is that through Jesus Christ we gain the ultimate victory. Jesus was born more than 2,000 years ago to end Satan’s rule over mankind. This means, the story of the birth of Christ didnt start in the town of Bethlehem. It began in the book of Genesis.

After God created Adam, He placed him in the Garden of Eden where He walked and talked with him everyday and gave him dominion over every creature (Gen 1:28).

However, Satan deceived Eve, and Adam sinned. The two became separated from God. Satan thought he had won. He thought that mankind would never be able to connect with God again.

But one night, Jesus was born in Bethlehem and laid in a manger. He lived a sinless life and was crucified and nailed to the Cross. So, through the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Satan’s rule over mankind was ended. Hallelujah!

Jesus became the Baby of Bethlehem for you and me. He made a way for us not only to have fellowship with God but also to experience victory over all of life’s circumstances. This is the ultimate reason for this season!
