ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:
“And Elijah said unto Ahab…there is a sound of abundance of rain..And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and put his face between his knees..And Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand” (1Kings 18:42-45 Paraphrased)
PERSONAL PRAYER:
“Father, as I read today’s Devotional, strengthen me to keep praying until your promise is fulfilled. Help me to notice the small signs that my answer is near, in Jesus name – Amen.”
Beloved, I want us to examine the story of Elijah today. God told him that rain was coming and he announced it to Ahab. But, he did not sit down and wait for the promise to manifest. He climbed up Mount Carmen, put his face between his knees, and prayed with all his heart. He stayed there, talking to God, until what God promised began to show.
Dear child of God, if Elijah prayed for a promise that God had clearly spoken, how much more should you pray for yours? Prayer is not a waste of time. It is where the invisible becomes visible. It is the place where what God has spoken is brought into reality.
Elijah prayed and sent his servant to look at the sky. The servant came back and said, “There is nothing.” Elijah sent him again and again, six times there was no sign. Yet Elijah refused to give up. On the seventh time, the servant saw a small cloud in the sky. That small cloud was enough for Elijah to know the rain was near.
Maybe you have been praying, and all you see is something small, a little change, a small opportunity, or a slight shift in your situation. My dear, do not despise it. That is your “cloud.” It is proof that the promise is on the way.
I encourage you this morning to hold on in prayer. Like Hannah, keep pouring out your heart until you hold your “Samuel” in your hand. Like the early church, keep praying until your “Peter” is released. Your rain will surely fall if you don’t give up in prayer.
PROPHETIC PRAYER:
Every promise of God over your life will manifest without delay. Your “cloud” will appear and your rain will fall in abundance this season, in Jesus name.
