ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:
“And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian” (Gen 39:2)
SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE:
“Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob; Which turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters” (Psalm 114:7-8)
Advancement in life is not primarily the result of human effort, intelligence, or connections. While these things may play a role, the greatest factor that guarantees true and lasting progress is the Presence of God. When God is with a person, progress becomes inevitable.
The life of Joseph in today’s anchor scripture clearly demonstrates this truth. Joseph found himself in situations that should have limited his progress. He was sold into slavery and later imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. Yet, despite these unfavorable circumstances, the Bible repeatedly emphasizes that the Lord was with him. Because of God’s Presence, Joseph prospered in Potiphar’s house and later became the overseer of the prison. Eventually, he rose to become the Prime Minister of Egypt.
God’s Presence has the power to turn setbacks into stepping stones. What may appear like a disadvantage to others becomes a platform for elevation when God is involved. His Presence brings favour and supernatural help that no human system can provide.
This is why Moses declared that the only thing that truly distinguished Israel from other nations was the Presence of God with them (Exo 33:15-16). Without His Presence, achievements may be temporary, but with His Presence, advancement becomes sustainable and meaningful.
