ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: “Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God” (1Sam 17:36)
- PERSONAL PRAYER: “Father, thank you for the power in Your Word that transforms. May the Morning Tea Devotional today transform my life and destiny, in Jesus name – Amen.”
As we round up the subject of sudden intervention today, we give glory to God for feeding us with His Word all through the month. It is indeed a month of sudden intervention, and if you haven’t seen yours yet, don’t worry, it’s on the way. Just be expectant.
I want us to look at one more key that triggers sudden intervention of God. As we know, David enjoyed God’s backing because he lived a lifestyle of praise. In Psalm 119:164, David said: “Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments.” No wonder he carried God’s Presence practically. You can’t carry God’s Presence on your life like David and be defeated in the battle of life.
Beyond praise, there’s another secret that David traded that provoked God’s intervention in his life. This secret is what made him to defeat Goliath easily. What is this secret? It is recounting the wonders of God in the past. David recounted what God did with the bear and lion that came against his flock of sheep in the bush. He acknowledged God’s wonders in the past and boasted about them before the king. As a result, God stood up to defend His word in his life, and Goliath was defeated.
Do you allow your current challenges to blind you to what God has done in the past? When you fail to acknowledge what God did in the past, you’re denying yourself of what He will do next. If you fail to acknowledge His past works in your life, you are depriving Him of the opportunity to stretch His Hand further in your life.
As the song writer rightly wrote, David counted his blessings, named them one by one, and God gave him the head of Goliath. As we round up the month of May tomorrow, I encourage you to sit down, take account of what God has done for you from January till today, and like David said to Goliath, look at that challenge in the face and say to it, “My God is bigger than you!”
