ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: “Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance” (Matt 3:8 – NKJV)
- PERSONAL PRAYER: “Father, thank you for the transformative power of Your Word. Let your Word through the Morning Tea Devotional today transform my life and destiny, in Jesus name – Amen.”
As Christians, we are called to live a life that produces godly fruits. This means living a life of uprightness before God and before men. From the moment we give our lives to Jesus, God expects us to start bearing godly fruits as an evidence of our repentance.
In today’s anchor scripture, John the Baptist told the Pharisees and Sadducees to “Bear fruits worthy of repentance.” He warned them not to rely on their family background or as I would put it, Church membership, but to show evidence of their repentance by bearing godly fruits.
Apostle Paul also emphasized the importance of bearing fruits in his prayer for the Colossians. He prayed that they would “be filled with the knowledge of God’s will, walk worthy of the Lord, and to be fruitful in every good work” (Col 1:9-10).
So, what does it mean to bear godly fruit? It means living a life that reflects the character of God. The Bible says that “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control” (Gal 5:22-23).
As children of God, we are expected to bear these fruits in our lives. We should not be satisfied with just attending Church or holding positions in the Church. We must strive to live a life that pleases God by bearing fruits of the Spirit.
PROPHETIC PRAYER: I pray that you walk worthy of the Lord and be fruitful in every good work, in Jesus name.
