TEXT: “Son of Man, these people have installed idols in their hearts. They have embraced the wickedness that will ruin them. Why should I even bother with their prayers?” (Ezek 14:3 – MSB)
- PRAYER: “Father, thank you for the transformative power of Your Word. Let today’s Morning Tea Devotional transform my life and and shape my destiny, in Jesus name. Amen.”
Another significant cause of unanswered prayer is idolatry. What exactly is idolatry? It’s not just about having physical idols in our homes; it’s about giving something or someone a place of prominence over God in our hearts.
Today’s scripture clearly reveals that God does not respond to the prayers of idolaters.
Beloved, take a moment to reflect: Have you given something or someone priority over God? This could be a relationship, career, hobby, or desire. Anything that rivals God’s place in your heart is an idol and it’s a potential hindrance to answers to prayers.
The following are forms of idols:
- Objects or possessions that consume your thoughts and resources more than God.
- Ideas or philosophies that contradict God’s Word.
- Habits or behaviours that control your life.
- Career or sports that demand your primary attention more than God.
- Relationships that lead you away from God. Etc.
When you allow idols to take root in your heart, they hinder your prayers and prevent you from experiencing God’s best. Today, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any potential idols that may be standing in the way of your prayers. Then, surrender these idols to God, restore your relationship with Him and you will experience the power of answered prayer.
PROPHETIC PRAYER: Anything contending the place of God in your heart is removed today, in Jesus name.
