TEXT: “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people” (Prov 14:34)
OPENING PRAYER: “Father, I recognize that your Word has the power to transform. As I read today’s Morning Tea Devotional, I ask that it penetrate my heart and mind, transforming my life and shaping my destiny, in Jesus name – Amen.”
Let’s start by reminding ourselves that God’s plan and purpose for us this month is Divine Lifting. This type of lifting or promotion will have no human gimmicks or manipulations attached. It is beyond human calculation and comprehension. Hear me: this month of October, there will be humbling testimonies of divine lifting/promotion among us in the Morning Tea Devotional Family. I pray that you will be a partaker of this move of God, in Jesus name.
However, as God is ready to lift us, there are some hindrances that must be promptly addressed.
- SIN: Today’s anchor scripture says righteousness exalts and sin demotes, it brings reproach. What is sin? Sin is defined as any thought, word, or action that goes against God’s commands, including disregarding the Word of God, partial obedience, and procrastination in obeying His instructions. If you will overcome the hindrances that sin brings and enjoy divine lifting, repentance, confession, and forsaking sin are essential (Prov 28:13).
To experience divine lifting, you must be willing and obedient to God and His instructions. Avoid incomplete obedience, like Peter who partially obeyed Jesus’ instruction by not letting down all the nets (Luke 5:4-7). Remember, disobedience to God’s Word attracts a cur-se, and no one can rise to their full potential under a curse (Deut 28:15-68). This means, divine lifting is not possible with sin.
In the battle of Ai, sin denied the Israelites’ victory until the sin was dealt with. Today, deal with the sin in your life, if you are going to experience promotion in destiny. It was sin that robbed Reuben of his inheritance and made him an unstable man. Sin brings one down. It makes one unstable. It makes one to sink. I urge you today to examine your life and identify areas of disobedience to God. Repent and turn away from it now, lest it brings shame and demotion to your life. Embrace obedience and you shall experience upward shift in destiny.
