TEXT: “And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord ? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams” (1Sam 15:22)
Before you start reading today’s MTD, repeat this prayer after me: “Father, I acknowledge that Your Word holds the power to transform lives. As I read Your Word today, I ask that it transform my life and shape my destiny. By the Power in your Word, above only shall be my experience all through this month and onwards, in Jesus name. Amen.”
Let me emphasize that there is no point in asking God to set you Above Only if you are not ready to obey His instructions that will lead you there. Obedience is an essential part of our walk with God, and it determines the outcome of our lives. Obedience to God is proof of our love for Him. Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15).
Jesus Christ, our ultimate example of obedience, demonstrated unwavering obedience unto death. Philippians 2:8 says: “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” Through His humility and obedience to God, He willingly endured a criminal’s death on the cross. Dear child of God, emulating Jesus’ example by taking up your cross and following Him demands your obedience. As today’s anchor scripture says, obedience is better than sacrifice.
Hear this, God tests our obedience by giving us instructions on prayer and fasting, or instructions on giving. While many view giving as a way to support God, it is essential to understand that God doesn’t require our prayers to sustain Himself or our resources to achieve His purposes. Instead, obedient to these instructions serve as tests of our trust and devotion to Him.
Obeying God’s prophetic instructions can be challenging for the flesh, but a true child of God will respond without delay. Remember, miracle won’t manifest in your life until you obey the instructions that will make it happen. There are no shortcuts, regardless of how many prophets you consult for prayer. Is there an instruction you have yet to obey?
Examine your heart!
