(MTD 14-DAY PRAYER & FASTING – DAY 4)
TEXT: “And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved…but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God” (1Sam 30:6)
I want to let you know this morning that the outstanding testimonies ordained for us this month are for those who has refused to let circumstances dictate their fate. They are for those who refused to be discouraged. Discouragement is a tool of the enemy, designed to steal your victory and silence your testimonies. But David’s example in today’s anchor scripture teaches us to resist discouragement and instead, encourage ourselves in the Lord, emerging stronger and more resilient in the face of adversity.
Beloved, when the circumstances around you are contrary to your expectations, don’t let discouragement creep in and whisper lies about God’s faithfulness. Don’t give in to depression. Instead, lift your eyes to the One who is too faithful to fail and encourage yourself in His promises.
Discouragement blinds eyes to God’s past blessings and focuses on what God is yet to do. Beloved, if you fail to acknowledge and give thanks for what God has already done, you risk missing out on His future blessings. So, encourage yourself in the Lord, remembering His faithfulness and provision, and trust that this month will be a month of testimony to His faithfulness in your life.
Prayer and fasting on the other hand, is a platform for accessing the grace of God. We saw this grace at work in the life of Jesus Christ. When He returned from a 40-day prayer and fasting. His level of command changed. The Bible says in Luke 4:14: “And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.”
It is your turn, in Jesus name. Engage wholeheartedly!
DAY 4 PRAYER GUIDELINES:
- Father, let every curse working against my life and destiny be broken now in Jesus name (Num 23:23).
- Father, in the name of Jesus, let every arrow of discouragement shut at me to steal my joy, go back to sender now.
- Present any other request to God now.
PROPHETIC PRAYER: The expectation of the wicked concerning you this month shall not come to pass, in Jesus name.
