TEXT: “For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease” (Job 14:7)

There are enemies within seeking to choke our thankful heart. We shall examine some of these enemies from today. People who are ungrateful to God are trapped down by some of these enemies. These enemies are like cancer that eats one’s spirit and if not tackled, they can take life out of one. You will not be a victim, in Jesus name. Satan doesn’t want you to grateful to God. He always wants you to see reasons why you should not be thankful to God. He will tell you why will you thank God when this or that has not happened? Please guard against his tricks this season and onwards.

One of the enemies of thanksgiving that I want us to examine today is:

  1. HOPELESSNESS.
The reason why many are ungrateful to God is because they lack hope. What is hope? I define hope as a strong positive expectation of a better tomorrow. When you are hopeful, you will be thankful. When you are hopeful you will be fruitful and you can’t be fruitful and not be grateful to the One who made it happen. With hope, your faith is energized. It is hope that fertilizes your faith to forge ahead in your journey in life. If hope is not in place, you will be cut off from faith, God forbid!

How does hope help us to be grateful? Hope helps us to be grateful to God at all times because it reminds us that there is always a way out of our current situation. A man with hope cannot be trapped in an unpleasant situation he finds himself for too long. Hope is strong enough to keep us going even in difficult times. It helps us to see a better future. Without hope in place, there would be no reason for anyone to keep trying because it would all be over before he/she even tries.

However, what keeps your hope alive is the revelation of your future from scriptures. A student of the Bible is always hopeful. When your heart is full of God’s word you will be full of hope. Take time to study the word of God so as to generate hope that will fertilize your faith. When you are hopeful, you will be grateful. When you study your Bible, you will be hopeful because in it you will find the word that addresses your situation and the word of God is forever settled! Rise and give Him praise in the dance.

PRAYER: Your case has just been remembered for settlement now in Jesus name!
